Yosemite in January

Melanie and I made a short trip to Yosemite earlier this week. Her expertise in photoshop allowed us to salvage this postcard shot of us in a difficult lighting situation. We were in the shadows with the very brightly lit granite monuments in the background.

I'm torn as to which image I like better. The polarizer makes for beautiful crisp blues and contrast but the monochrome B&W certainly has its own appeal. You be the judge.

Slow exposure blurs Lower Yosemite Falls after its 2500 ft drop from the top of the valley. I didn't have my tripod with me so I leaned against a rock for extra stability 1/2 s f10 ISO 100 with my 18-200 VR lens.
