Museum of Contemporary Craft

My mother and brother Shanti came to visit Oregon this past several days. Mom was a guest speaker at the opening of Portland's Museum of Contemporary Craft. We met at the Chinese gardens in Portland. Within its walls was a little oasis in the city. There were beautiful examples of Chinese architecture, art, plants and a tea house.

Their lilies were doing much better than my own (my koi seem to have developed a taste for them).

This guy was a very entertaining glass blower who managed to survive the heat and blow some beautiful examples of glass art.

I even tried my hand at weaving (with an interesting technique using cards that you simply rotate between weaves)

We also caught up with some long lost cousins who showed us a fabulous Japanese restaurant in Tigard.
